Behind the art
Kerry (on the left) lives in Central Massachusetts with her husband, Charlie (on the right), and their three-year-old Chihuahua mix, Matthew—a super cool Sato dog rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico. By day, Kerry works as an HR Generalist at a wealth management firm, where she supports employees and fosters a positive workplace culture. But as soon as the workday ends, she shifts gears and picks up her pencils and markers, diving into her true creative passion: drawing animals.
Originally from New Hampshire, Kerry grew up surrounded by the love of dogs, thanks to her childhood companions: Millie, a gentle and loyal Shetland Sheepdog, and Dooley, a spunky Rat Terrier with a big personality. That early connection with animals never faded—in fact, it only deepened over time. It was truly rekindled in adulthood when she and Charlie adopted Harley, a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix who stole their hearts and turned Charlie into a full-fledged dog lover. Harley’s charm, resilience, and tiny stature were the inspiration behind many of Kerry’s first pet portraits and helped launch her journey into the art world.
Now, through her mixed media pieces—often created with colored pencils, markers, and a lot of heart—Kerry brings animals to life on the page. Her work is deeply personal, often drawing from the warmth, humor, and comfort that animals bring to our lives.
